Update on Woolwich Bus Stabbing Investigation

Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of 14-year-old Kelyan Bokassa on a Route 472 bus in Woolwich, urging anyone with information or footage to come forward as no arrests have yet been made.

Police are continuing their investigation into the tragic murder of 14-year-old Kelyan Bokassa, who was fatally stabbed on a bus in Woolwich yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called at 14:28hrs on Tuesday, 7th January, to reports of a stabbing on a Route 472 bus on Woolwich Church Street near the junction with the A205 South Circular Road. Despite the efforts of paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance, Kelyan succumbed to his injuries shortly after their arrival.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Thorpe, leading the investigation, said:
"Following Kelyan’s tragic death yesterday, specialist officers are working tirelessly to establish the circumstances surrounding this horrific incident.

"We urge anyone who witnessed the attack or was in the area around 14:30hrs to come forward and assist us. Any mobile phone, dash cam, or doorbell footage from the vicinity could be crucial to our investigation."

The Woolwich community has been left deeply shocked, with DCI Thorpe assuring residents that an increased police presence will remain in the area.

Kelyan’s family is being supported by specialist officers during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts remain with them as we work to bring those responsible to justice,” he added.

No arrests have been made at this stage, and enquiries are ongoing.
