Football Pays Tribute to Former Millwall Manager Kenny Jackett.

Former Millwall manager Kenny Jackett has died at the age of 64. Widely regarded as one of the Lions’ most influential modern managers, Jackett led the club to Championship promotion in 2010 and an FA Cup semi-final in 2013. Tributes have been paid by former players including Danny Shittu, David Forde and England captain Harry Kane, who praised the lasting impact he had on their careers.

The football world is mourning the loss of former Millwall manager Kenny Jackett, who has passed away at the age of 64.

A respected figure across the game, Jackett enjoyed a distinguished playing career with Watford, making 428 appearances for the Hornets before injury forced him to retire at just 28 years old. He went on to build an impressive managerial career with clubs including Watford, Swansea City, Millwall, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Rotherham United, Portsmouth and Leyton Orient, while also serving as Gillingham’s Director of Football.

For Millwall supporters, Jackett will be remembered as one of the club’s most successful modern managers. After arriving at The Den in 2007, he guided the Lions to promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs in 2010 and later led the club to the FA Cup semi-finals in 2013.

Following news of his passing, tributes have poured in from across football, including from several former Millwall players whose careers were shaped under his management.

Former Lions defender Danny Shittu wrote: “RIP Kenny. This is hard to take. Thanks for always believing in me. Rest well. Gone but never forgotten.”

England captain Harry Kane, who worked under Jackett during a loan spell at Millwall early in his career, said: “Very sad news. Kenny played a big part in my journey early on in my career, and I’ll always be grateful to him. RIP Kenny. My thoughts are with his friends and family.”

Former Millwall goalkeeper David Forde paid an emotional tribute to the man who handed him the club’s number one shirt in 2008.

Forde said Jackett “saw something in me others didn’t” and described him as “a man, a coach and a manager who made everyone around him better.”

Reflecting on their time together, Forde added: “As a manager, he built. He took us up to the Championship and to an FA Cup semi-final, and gave Millwall a backbone the club still stands on today.

“Forever grateful to the man who saw me first. Thank you, gaffer. Thoughts are with his family. Rest in peace.”

Jackett leaves behind a lasting legacy at Millwall and throughout English football, where he was widely respected for his humility, leadership and dedication to the game.
