South East London residents can look forward to a more sustainable commute along the Thames this summer, following a remarkable journey undertaken by King Charles III on Wednesday the 7th.

His Majesty joined Sean Collins, CEO of Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, aboard Mars Clipper's hybrid vessel to learn more about the company's commitment to greener river transport. The journey, which sailed from Westminster Pier to Blackfriars Pier, offered stunning views of iconic London landmarks.

While the trip showcased the existing hybrid technology – where vessels like the Mars Clipper operate on battery power in central London before switching to other power sources outside this zone – the real buzz for South East London lies in what's to come.

Uber Boat by Thames Clippers is gearing up to launch the Orbit Clipper, the UK's first fully electric, zero-emission passenger ferry, later this year. This groundbreaking vessel promises a quieter and cleaner way for commuters and leisure travellers in areas like Greenwich, Woolwich, and beyond to navigate the Thames.

During the sailing, King Charles and Mr Collins discussed the significant impact that the Orbit Clipper and the existing hybrid fleet would have on making London's transport network more environmentally friendly. The introduction of electric power directly addresses concerns about air quality and noise pollution along the river.

Sean Collins expressed his delight at hosting the King, stating, "Welcoming His Majesty on board Mars Clipper was a great honour for everyone at Uber Boat by Thames Clippers. His Majesty is incredibly passionate about sustainability and the environment - issues that we touched on while discussing how Orbit Clipper, along with our hybrid vessels, will make London transport greener and more efficient."

The launch of the Orbit Clipper marks a significant step towards Uber Boat by Thames Clippers' core objective of creating a more sustainable transport system for London. For South East London, this means a cleaner, greener, and potentially quieter option for those who rely on the river for their daily commute or weekend explorations. As the summer approaches, anticipation is building for the arrival of this pioneering electric ferry and the positive impact it will have on the local community and the wider city.
