A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Eghosa Ogbebor in Woolwich, according to the Metropolitan Police Service.
The teenager, who is from Romford, was formally charged on Friday, 10 April and is due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 11 April. Police confirmed that the suspect had initially been arrested on Saturday, 4 April, before being released on bail. He was subsequently re-arrested on Thursday, 9 April, as the investigation progressed. The investigation began on Thursday, 2 April after officers were called to Lord Warwick Street in Woolwich at approximately 15:40 following reports of a shooting. Emergency services, including officers and the London Ambulance Service, attended the scene where they found Eghosa Ogbebor with serious injuries. Despite their efforts, the 14-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Specialist officers continue to support Eghosa’s family. The case remains active, with multiple arrests made in connection with the incident: Additionally, two boys aged 14 and 16, along with an 18-year-old man, were arrested on Friday, 3 April. They have also been released on bail while enquiries continue. On Friday, 10 April, another 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
