Maritime Radio can confirm an update, following Rotherhithe fire.
The London Fire Brigade has issued an update following an early-morning fire at a residential block in south-east London on New Year’s Day.
In a statement, the London Fire Brigade have said:
“Firefighters were called to a block of maisonettes on Cope Street in Bermondsey shortly after 1am. According to the Brigade, a small amount of rubbish was alight in an external stairway on the first floor of the building.
Control officers received the first of 13 emergency calls at 1:09am on 1 January. Two fire engines from Peckham and Lee Green fire stations were dispatched to the scene. The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished by 1:41am.
There have been no reports of any injuries.
Emergency services had earlier attended the incident amid reports of a stairwell fire, with residents alerted in the early hours as crews worked to deal with the blaze. The London Fire Brigade has now confirmed the fire was limited in scale and located outside the building.
No further action is currently being taken, and the incident has been safely resolved.
