Made in Kent Radio Joins the Maritime Radio Family, with a relaunch coming soon and county-wide DAB coverage!
Greenwich Media CIC, the team behind Maritime Radio, has acquired the Made in Kent Radio brand and assets.
Following the difficult decision by Made In Kent Ltd to cease trading in December 2025—due to challenging financial pressures including business rates disputes and rising music licensing costs—Greenwich Media stepped in to secure the future of this much-loved Kent-focused station. We're proud to bring it back under our community-owned umbrella, ensuring its unique voice continues to champion local businesses, talent, and community stories across the county.
What this means for listeners and supporters
Made in Kent Radio has always been more than just music—it's a lifestyle platform dedicated to celebrating everything Kent: from independent shops and creatives to charities and local events. Under new ownership, it will retain that heart while gaining a major upgrade: immediate pan-Kent coverage on DAB digital radio for the first time ever.
Thanks to Greenwich Media's existing greenDAB small-scale DAB multiplex (covering south-east London and north-west Kent) and reciprocal agreements with other Kent multiplex operators, Made in Kent will reach listeners across the whole county—from Dartford and Gravesend to Maidstone, Canterbury, Dover, and beyond—right from the relaunch. No more relying solely on apps or internet streaming; tune in easily on your DAB radio, at home, work, in your car, or on your smart speaker.

Integration and what's next
Operations will move to Greenwich Media's established studios in Shooters Hill, Greenwich, for efficiency and sustainability. Both radio stations will share resources (production, tech, admin) between the two brands while keeping distinct identities: Maritime Radio stays focused on Greenwich and south-east London, while Made in Kent Radio focusses on its county-wide lifestyle and business support ethos.
Made in Kent Radio was founded five years ago by respected radio presenter and producer Matt James, who has worked in the radio industry for more than 30 years. The station was originally launched in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic to champion local businesses and deliver truly local content to communities across Kent.

Relaunch
The company hopes to have an official relaunch announcement soon, with fresh programming, sponsor opportunities, and ways for listeners to get involved. In the meantime, Made in Kent Radio's online stream remains available via the app and website as we prepare.
A Greenwich Media spokesperson said:
"This acquisition strengthens our commitment as a CIC to serving communities, expanding reach, creating synergies, and keeping local voices on air."
Stay tuned for more details. If you're a Kent business interested in sponsorship or have ideas for the relaunch, get in touch via our contact page or socials.
