The world’s daftest sporting spectacle is back. The London Pantomime Horse Race returns for its 12th outing this December, and this year it’s going full throttle with a “Rockstars” theme.
Giddy up for race day, where Greenwich will witness a stampede of costumed two-person horses galloping pub-to-pub, stopping for “refuelling” breaks, dodging absurd obstacles, and generally turning festive chaos into an art form. The top five teams will abandon dignity entirely and bounce to the finish line on space hoppers.
This year’s mission: raise £20,000+ for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. Supporters can get involved early with the online “Back-a-Nag” fundraiser—donate to your favourite “rockstar” team and help them secure a prime starting position on the big day.
What to expect:
• A surreal parade of equine rock legends through Greenwich
• Multiple pub pit stops and plenty of off-key singing
• Outrageous obstacles and even worse dance moves
• Horses with suspiciously famous names: Liam & Noel Gallopher, Freddie Marecury, Amy Winehorse, The Gee Gees, The Fab Foals + many more .
And if that’s not enough, stable whispers suggest one or two possible surprise celebrity appearances. Bring your camera. And maybe a carrot.
Event details:
