Royal Greenwich is set to celebrate Pride Month this June with a vibrant and inclusive line-up of events designed to honour and support the borough’s LGBTQIA+ communities.

From family-friendly library sessions to lively river cruises and parades, the Royal Borough of Greenwich, alongside local partners, will be hosting a range of activities throughout June — and beyond — to celebrate love, equality, and identity.

A council spokesperson said:

“Pride Month is a dedicated time to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ communities, to raise awareness of issues affecting LGBTQIA+ people and to stand up against hatred and discrimination.

“But it’s vital this continues all year round. We’re committed to making sure Royal Greenwich is a warm, inclusive place where people feel safe to proudly be themselves every day.

“Celebrate and learn about Pride at activities throughout Royal Greenwich this June and sign our Equality and Equity Charter now to join us in our pledge for equality across our borough.”

Why June?

Pride Month is observed every June worldwide in honour of the Stonewall Riots, which took place on June 28, 1969, in New York City — a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights. While most Royal Greenwich events will take place in June, celebrations will extend into July, including participation in Pride in London on 5 July.
