A woman in her 40s has died following a serious incident in Lewisham.
A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in her 40s in Lewisham early on Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called to Hatfield Close, SE14, at 6:41 am on 13 April after the London Ambulance Service reported a woman with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Just minutes later, at 6:52 am, a 44-year-old man attended Lewisham Police Station voluntarily, where he was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody.
The Metropolitan Police believe the victim and the suspect were known to each other. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place in the coming days as detectives continue their enquiries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
