A giant Goodyear blimp surprised people across Kent and London today, drifting slowly over the South East after crossing the Channel from Calais on Wednesday morning.
Residents in Dover, Deal, Canterbury and Rochester were among the first to spot the iconic airship as it cruised inland at around 1,000–1,500 feet, its 246‑foot frame clearly visible against the summer sky.

Later on, it was seen above South East London following the Thames into central London, looping over the city skyline before heading north. Commuters and tourists reported seeing it above Canary Wharf, the City, and Westminster. Flight tracking data shows the aircraft is the Zeppelin LZ N07‑101, part of Goodyear’s modern Wingfoot Class fleet.
Goodyear has not confirmed the purpose of today’s UK flight. The blimp often appears at major sporting and entertainment events worldwide — from FA Cup Finals to F1 races — and serves as both an aerial camera platform and a floating LED billboard. Its arrival today remains a mystery, adding to the intrigue for those who spotted it.
