Young people will find out today which secondary schools across the Royal Borough of Greenwich they will be attending next year, following National Offer Day.
Once again this year, the vast majority of students will be heading to one of their preferred schools, according to the latest data.
A total of 92% of students received a preference offer, with more than half getting their first preference place. Of students who received an offer, 83% were given a place at a top three preference.
The figures come in the context of increasing applications for school places in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Where it was not possible to offer a preference school, pupils were given a place at the nearest school that had a vacancy.
Councillor Matthew Morrow, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “Moving on to secondary school is an exciting time for young students. We’re delighted that so many families were given a place at one of their six preferences.
“Going to a preference school helps our young people have a confident start in September, and a lot of work goes on behind the scenes to try to make this a reality for students.
“Our schools are full of wonderful, hard-working teachers and I am sure that the next cohort of students will be proud of what they achieve during the next stage of their educational journey.”
