In an unfortunate statistic, it has been revealed by the Met Police that one in eight crimes reported are associated with domestic abuse. 94,791 offences were reported in the year to October, which equates to 260 a day across London which is a 9% increase from the previous year. Because of this, City Hall and the Home Office have announced funding of £2.4million of funding in London alone to catch early signs of domestic abuse. Sadiq Khan has said he is “doing everything in my power to protect victims of domestic abuse”. During the lockdown in August last year, a monthly record was set with 9,136 incidents recorded.

A Christmas mad Mum has spent four weeks covering her entire home in wrapping paper. Carly Lockie and her family have dressed the house from top to bottom in festive paper, covering walls, doors, and even cupboards. This tradition began two years ago when she was bored of the beige walls in her home in Bristol so decided to make it all look like a grotto on a budget. Her partner and children also help out with the sprucing up. Talking about the festivity, Carly says: “We do the whole house and it takes a long time. We start the first week of November and finish in the first week of December. It’s like Santa’s grotto”.
