Serious News

On Tuesday, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan confirmed that drivers will need to pay a toll to use the Blackwall Tunnel from 2025.

There is currently another tunnel being built to help ease congestion on the only major crossing in East London.

The Silvertown Tunnel will split from the A102 south-east from the O2 Arena and is also set to open in 2025. Once it opens, the tunnel will also be chargeable to help pay for the building and wider transport improvements too.

TfL says that charges have not been finalised, but reports have circled online it could cost £4 for a car.

Crazy News

A group of mountain bikers had a chance meeting with the King.

Charles was walking on a footpath on the Balmoral Estate when the cyclists came face to face with royalty.

Wearing a jacket, flat cap and a walking stick, the King had a chat with the group of bikers about the estate, weather and how he renovated Gelder Shiel.

As the cyclists left the King said: “Take care. Don’t fall off”.

Happy News

A bride-to-be was left stranded when her wedding car broke down but was saved by a Good Samaritan who got her to church on time.

Sharon Travers was heading to Cults Paris Church in Aberdeen and was set to marry Martin Kelly, but the 1976 Triumph Stag broke down.

The chauffeur managed to flag down a passing car and driver, Alan Knowles, completed the rest of the journey in a Mercedes Coupe.

Speaking of the unexpected chauffeur, Ms Travers says: “I just really want to say thank you. I’m now laughing about it, but I certainly wasn’t at the time. I’m so grateful. It was such a fantastic moment”.
