Greenwich council leader Anthony Okereke has appealed to the public to join this weekend’s memorial walk for primary schoolteacher Sabina Nessa, who was murdered a year ago while walking through a park in Kidbrooke.
Sabina’s Light Walk will start from her home in Cator Park South at 8 pm on Saturday, September 24.
Sabina’s death, within months of the Sarah Everard case, sent shockwaves through London.
Councillor Okereke said the walk will be a reminder of the awful violence women and girls face, and why it’s at the top of the council’s agenda.
Woolwich Town Hall will be lit in sunflower yellow on Saturday evening, the colour of Sabina’s favourite flower.
