The public are reminded please only use public transport if your journey is absolutely essential.
Passengers will temporarily only be able to enter via the centre doors of buses from Monday as part of Transport for London’s efforts to help combat coronavirus. This will improve safety for bus drivers and critical workers enabling better social distancing.
Following the trial on nine routes to ensure of its safety, TfL is confident the low number of people can keep a safe distance when entering and exiting through the same door. A survey has shown the number of people on buses has plummeted around 85%.
During this period where entry is through the middle doors, passengers will not be required to touch in. Customers should not approach the card reader near the driver’s cab.
TFL is also exploring what more can be done to create a completely sealed partition between drivers and passengers that allows for both communication and ventilation.
