Six people were taken to hospital on Friday when a police chase after an attempted robbery ended in a crash in Footscray Road, Eltham.
According to reports, a cash box was taken from a security vehicle outside New Eltham Post Office around noon, the alleged robbers taking off in a van which minutes later crashed head-on into a police car.
Eye-witnesses said that as well as paramedics treating those affected, arrests were taking place at the scene.
