Plumstead brothers jailed for sex-trafficking

Two brothers from Plumstead are sentenced to a total of 31 years in prison. They were convicted after holding a young woman captive, beating her and forcing her to work as a prostitute.

Ilcic Dumitru, 19, and his 24-year-old brother Ioan Dumitru brought the 20-year-old woman to the UK from Romania. They told her that they had work for her in a factory.

However, when she arrived at Luton airport the brothers confiscated the woman’s travel documents. Imprisoning her in a house in Plumstead.

The woman forced to work as a street prostitute. Allegedly seeing as many as 15 clients a day.

The Dumitru brothers were arrested in December last year as a result of an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Modern Slavery and Child Sexual Exploitation Unit. As well as sex trafficking and slavery the men were also found guilty of supplying Class A drugs.
