People’s Assembly at Greenwich University

The climate change campaign group Extinction Rebellion is holding a People’s Assembly today at Greenwich University. The event, which is taking place in the Stephen Lawrence Building calls on Greenwich residents to “discuss and think of practical solutions to be implemented locally, immediately” which will then be presented to the Borough’s Mayor and Council leader.

Greenwich Council has already indicated that it will be declaring a Climate Emergency next week and has committed to being carbon-neutral by 2030, but Extinction Rebellion, best known for its high-profile protests in Central London earlier this year, wants to see local people take responsibility, asking:

“What does [climate change] mean to you living in Greenwich? To your family, your friends, your neighbours, to your life on a daily basis, today and tomorrow?”
