Orpington to NYC – Emma Raducanu makes history at the US Open

Bromley tennis player Emma Raducanu is preparing for the biggest day of her life as she competes in the final of the US Open. She is the first British woman to reach a major singles final for 44 years.

The 18-year-old former pupil of Newstead Woods School in Orpington juggled tennis with her A-levels this summer, reaching the last 16 at Wimbledon in July before hearing she had achieved top grades in her Maths and Economics exams. In her US Open campaign Raducanu has not dropped a set in nine matches.

The US Open Final will begin at 9pm tonight (Saturday 11 September) British time.
