Premier League sides perform well in Mid-Week European fixtures

Premier League sides largely performed well in this week’s European fixtures across the Champions League, Europa League, and the Conference League.

In the Champions League, Arsenal secured a 2–0 victory over Greek giants Olympiakos at the Emirates Stadium, with Gabriel Martinelli opening the scoring before Leandro Trossard doubled the lead after half-time. Chelsea edged Portuguese champions Benfica 1–0 at Stamford Bridge, courtesy of an own goal by midfielder Richard Rios. Newcastle United impressed with a commanding 4–0 win away to Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise. Meanwhile, Manchester City were held to a 2–2 draw away at AS Monaco, while Tottenham Hotspur also drew 2–2 on the road against Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt.

In the Europa League, Nottingham Forest suffered a narrow 3–2 defeat at the City Ground against Danish side FC Midtjylland. Elsewhere, Aston Villa secured an impressive 2–0 victory away at Feyenoord in the Netherlands, and Crystal Palace claimed a 2–0 win on their travels against Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv.

Overall, it was a positive week for English clubs in Europe, with strong performances and encouraging results across all three competitions.
