Newcastle United are facing a fresh crisis today after star striker Aleksandar Isak submitted a transfer request yesterday. Manager Eddie Howe was informed of Isak’s decision as the Swedish international opted not to join the club for their pre-season tour of Singapore.
The transfer request has come as a shock to many Newcastle supporters, especially considering the club has recently won its first major trophy in 56 years. Newcastle United are set to compete in the Champions League this coming season.
The club most likely to sign Isak appears to be reigning Premier League champions Liverpool, with Newcastle valuing the striker at over £200 million.
With the season due to start soon, Newcastle would need to sign a replacement quickly, before both the season kicks off and the transfer window closes.
Isak is currently training alone at his former club Real Sociedad’s training ground in the Basque Country, Spain. His future remains uncertain, although Liverpool are favourites to land the Sweden star.
