Four presenters from Maritime Radio in Woolwich are due to to take part in a sailing event down the longest Zip Lane in England at Bluewater inside the Hangloose Adventure Park on the 7th October. Gary Sylvester, John Reen, Claudia Navarro and Andy Sayers; are the four presenters who are to take part in the event. This is to help raise money for a local child’s cancer medication.
Nine year old Alexander has a very aggressive brain tumour that has also spread to his spine. He has endured 2 brain surgeries and one spinal surgery plus 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy. His parents were told he only had a 20% chance of survival with these standard NHS treatments so they searched the globe to find the latest treatments outside of the NHS.
They found a breakthrough medication that really works for him and stops the tumours from growing back but it costs £3,700 per month and they fundraise to pay for it. It is coming to the NHS for all children next spring but his parents have to keep fundraising until then.
