Visitors to Greenwich’s National Maritime Museum have been put at risk by funding cuts, a new report has found. The report by the spending watchdog the National Audit office, found that the repair and maintenance budgets for some of Britain’s most iconic buildings have been slashed by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, endangering staff and visitors as well as the priceless collections the buildings house.
A spokesman for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport said: “We are committed to protecting and preserving the extraordinary buildings that hold the UK’s national collection. Estates management has been, and will remain, our priority.”
