A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and intent to endanger life. This is after an explosion and fire in New Cross on Friday afternoon.
Police and fire crews were called to the scene at around 1:30pm on Friday.
Emergency services arrived to find a five-room flat ablaze in Batavia Mews, just off New Cross Road.
A police officer was taken to hospital with burns during the afternoon.
Pictures were captured of a naked man escaping the flat onto a nearby roof before being captured by police.
Nearby Goldsmiths, University of London, texted its students advising them to stay away from the area, where the college had previously owned accommodation.
The A2 through New Cross was closed for several hours but has now reopened for traffic.
