Queen Elizabeth Tower, Westminster
Probably more commonly known as “Big Ben”, this is actually the Queen Elizabeth Tower, at the north end of the Palace of Westminster.
Big Ben is actually the nickname of the bell housed in the tower.
The tower was completed in 1859 and had its 150th anniversary on 31 May 2009. If parliament is sitting late into the night, a light is lit in the top part of the tower, above the clock face.
