A giant covid vaccination hub is to open at the ExCel centre in Docklands. The facility, on the same site as London’s Nightingale Hospital, will be one of seven large-scale vaccination centres opening around England next week.
Along with the other sites in Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Surrey and Stevenage, the ExCel hub will hope to vaccinate tens of thousands of people per week.
The Nightingale Hospital, also located at ExCel, is additionally likely to see the return of patients next week, having been repurposed to care for covid-negative people for whom beds cannot be found in the capital’s overcrowded hospitals during the crisis.
