The MP for Eltham, Clive Efford, has written to the transport minister to ask for more help for London taxi drivers hit by the lockdown.
Efford warned that many taxi drivers in his constituency are facing financial ruin and are already struggling to feed their families.
He asked Transport Minister Grant Shapps to immediately support taxi drivers’ income, suspend payments such as licence plate and rental fees, and consider subcontracting taxi drivers to undertake essential tasks in the community such as delivering shopping and transporting NHS staff.
