Magical Christmas celebrations took over Greenwich and Eltham last week as the Royal Borough of Greenwich festivities sprinkled the town centres with Christmas cheer. If you missed out, not to worry, there are still two more spark-tacular events to come.
Thamesmead Sparkle, in partnership with Peabody, is back this Friday (29 November) from 3.30pm to 6.30pm at the Clocktower, Joyce Dawson Way. Woolwich Winter Warmer, in partnership with Berkley Homes, returns next Saturday 7 December from 12pm to 6.30pm across the whole of Woolwich from General Gordon Square down to the Royal Arsenal.
Councillor Miranda Williams, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Third Sector said: “Our celebrations in Thamesmead and Woolwich are fantastic events to finish our season of festive activities. Come and do your Christmas shopping at our markets, take selfies in a giant snow globe and dance along with street entertainers. There’s so much to do, see, eat and make, I hope you all can come along.”
Thamesmead Sparkle
Whether it’s eating free hot chocolate and mince pies, singing along to live music or taking part in children’s activities such as balloon modelling and arts and crafts – there is something for everyone.
Lisa Drew, Cultural Programme Manager for Peabody said: “The Thamesmead Christmas Sparkle event has become a real favourite with the local community and we’re proud to be a part in it again this year. There will be lots of activities for people of all ages, so I’d encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the festivities.”
Santa will also be making a special visit to Thamesmead, so make sure to say hello and check out his Grotto, decorated by IKEA. Stay around for a spectacular musical experience as Boppin’ Bunnies and X factor contestant Annastasia Baker will be performing live! There will also be performances from local choirs and schools throughout the evening.
Woolwich Winter Warmer
Woolwich will be beaming with lights and showered in music with not one but two live stages hosted by Maritime Radio, featuring performances from local choirs and Ariana Grande tribute act The Dangerous Woman. You can also enjoy El Carromato’s Big dancers, pedal-powered sleigh rides and a firework finale.
If you would like to take part in the fantastic lantern parade at Woolwich, then head down to Woolwich Library on Saturday 7 December from 11am to 2pm for a free lantern making workshop.
Don’t forget to come and say hello to the Maritime Radio, team who will be at both events!
