Racist hate crimes in Greenwich are on the rise, according to police data.
In figures dating back to June 2009, religious and racist crimes have gradually increased within the Royal borough, with a nearly 15% increase in the last year alone.
The highest recorded count of reported hate crimes came in August 2016, weeks after the Brexit referendum.
Councillor Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member for Community Safety has said that “we continue to work closely with local police colleagues to tackle hate of all kind, particularly where enforcement action may be required.”
