The Royal Borough of Greenwich is joining with organisations around the world in recognising United Nations Day this weekend.
Saturday 24 October marks 75 years since the UN was formed. The blue UN flag will fly above Woolwich Town Hall and the building will be lit up blue on Saturday night.
In the presence of members of the UK United Nations Association, the mayor, Linda Bird, will read the opening words of the UN charter to “to reaffirm [Greenwich Council’s] promise of an equal and safe home for people of all ages to live, work and play”.
