Greenwich borough proposals for bin collections

Greenwich borough proposals for bin collections
  1. The Royal Borough of Greenwich are proposing changes to the way they collect your waste, so that recycling becomes the first thing you think about and becomes second nature. The three alternative proposals for the bin collection service you’re about to read, can only be considered once they know how they will affect you. This is why they appreciate you getting involved, so, have your say. The link is after the proposals.

The three alternative bin collection proposals are:

1) Reduce the frequency of when rubbish (black top) bins are collected to every two weeks.
This could increase their recycling rate by around 5% and save the Council £460,000 per year.

2) Collect your rubbish every week but the bin is smaller.
This could increase their recycling rate by around 2.5% and save the Council £150,000 per year.

3) Reduce the size of rubbish bins and collect them every two weeks.
This could increase their recycling rate by around 7% and save the Council £612,000 per year.

The majority of UK boroughs have switched to fortnightly collections and they have all seen an increase in recycling rates.
