Greenwich Foodbank is dangerously close to running out of supplies as need continues to increase. The impact of the Universal Credit rollout, which has caused delays in payments for some claimants, continues to be felt among Foodbank users, with the area’s chronic housing shortage also contributing to need.
Alan Robinson, who has been a volunteer for the Foodbank since 2012, is concerned:
“We have never run out of food since we’ve been running;” Alan says
“This is probably the closest we’ve got to that. It’s worrying. The last thing we want is for us not to be able to help.”
Over 90 % of the food distributed by Greenwich Foodbank is donated by members of the public. Urgently needed items at the moment are:
TINNED FRUIT
TINNED PEAS
TINNED CARROTS
LONGLIFE FRUIT JUICE
TINNED RICE/CUSTARD
