Disgraced Greenwich Councillor will cost taxpayer £100,000

The by-election to replace disgraced Greenwich councillor Tonia Ashikodi will cost the taxpayer up to thirty thousand pounds it has emerged.

Ms Ashikodi resigned on Wednesday after being found guilty of fraud. It has been calculated that her illegal actions – occupying a council house when she owned two properties in the area – have already cost the council nearly £70,000 in emergency accommodation for a resident who could have been using Ms Ashikodi’s council house.

A by-election to replace Ms Ahikodi in the Glyndon Ward, which covers part of west Plumstead and Thamesmead, will be held on Thursday 9th April.
