This year the 2020 Welling Round Table Charity Fireworks at Danson Park is cancelled. due to coronavirus safety concerns. A first in the event’s history.
The news was broken by Danson Park Fireworks’ Twitter account on behalf of organisers Welling Round table on Tuesday evening.
The annual fireworks display that has run every November for 56 years without break.
The event raises hundreds of thousands of pounds helping many hundreds of charitable and community organisations in Bexley and beyond.
Welling Round Table are sadly announcing the cancellation of the 2020 Welling Round Table Charity Fireworks at Danson Park. The Coronavirus Pandemic means we cant guarantee the safety of the thousands of members of the public , or the event will be financially viable.

A spokesperson for Welling Round Table stated: “After careful consideration. We are sadly announcing the cancellation of the 2020 Welling Round Table Charity Fireworks at Danson Park.
The Coronavirus Pandemic means we are not able to guarantee the safety of the thousands of members of the public that attend, or that the event will be financially viable.
We are currently looking at other ways in which we can run a safe, financially viable event for the whole community early next year. Watch this space!”
In 2019, Welling Round Table donated a record £103,000 to charities across Bexley, including £25,000 for a new bus for Bexley Accessible Transport.
Though the much-loved event is cancelled there are still more events around the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
