There were delays on Shooters Hill Road on Tuesday, when a water main burst open, spilling large amounts of water on the road.
Traffic was very heavy at the junction with Stratheden Road.
TfL said that the surface water was particularly bad near the Esso garage.
It is the latest in a number of burst water pipes lately, following similar incidents in Lewisham and Catford earlier this week.
