Serious News
Following the devastating fire in 2017, work to remove Grenfell Tower began this week.

It began by removing the plant room which housed the heating and water tank at the top of the building, following the removal of the top storey.

The contractors completing the work are Deconstruct UK, who have overseen maintenance of the site ever since the fire that took the lives of 72 people.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government says: “As work begins to carefully take the tower down, we want to assure the community that it will be undertaken with great care and sensitivity. We remain committed to ensuring what happened at Grenfell Tower is remembered and we will keep the community's voice at the heart of our work to deliver the vital change needed so what happened can never happen again”.

A memorial is set to be installed on the site, with planning permission set to be submitted in late 2026.

Crazy News
A large Victorian house has gone viral after it has a ball pit installed with room for 11,300 plastic balls.

Selling the property is Julie Williams, an IT consultant, who gave the ball pit as a “birthday present” to herself, adding “Instead of a weekend away I built a ball pit. It is so relaxing”.

She got inspiration from model Cara Delevingne who also had a ball pit in her Los Angeles home.

The ball pit is in a “project room”, sitting on the first floor just outside the master bedroom, even having its own staircase.

The house is up for sale in Birkdale for just shy of £800,000.

Happy News
An 18-year-old from County Durham has landed his dream job of working with trains.

Logan Smallwood has a collection of model trains in his bedroom – his fascination began at a young aged when he used to drive trains on a miniature railway.

Now becoming one of the youngest qualified train drivers within the UK, he is one step closer of working aboard mainland trains.

Logan’s instructor, Wayne Dixon, says: “Logan is an exceptional young man who clearly has a future in rail, he was literally banging on my door when the opportunity came along for him to train as a sentinel driver”.

Smallwood himself said: “I've always loved trains, I have just loved anything that can move, any kind of machinery, transportation, I have always been fascinated by it. My mum is really proud of me, when she find out I got my shunter certificate she was almost in tears”.
