this Sunday at 12pm on Trevor Blackman Now

This week the programme brings together stories of survival, creativity and purpose.

First, Trevor speaks with Rashanda Mack Kelly, cancer survivor and author of I’m Still Standing: Stories of Survival. After facing the realities of serious illness in the American healthcare system, she turned her experience into a message of resilience, faith and determination — while building a life centred on family and purpose.

Next, entrepreneur Shamille “Shay” Powell, founder of Phi Hair, joins the conversation. Through her beauty brand she is helping women see hair not just as fashion, but as identity, confidence and cultural expression — building a business grounded in empowerment and trust.

Finally, filmmaker Geeta Gandbhir discusses her groundbreaking work after becoming the first woman nominated in the same year for both Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film. Her films — The Perfect Neighbor and The Devil Is Busy — explore justice, reproductive rights and the intersection of art and politics.

Three conversations.
Three journeys.
Survival, identity and the power of storytelling.
