Black History Month on Maritime Radio

Black History Month on Maritime Radio

Throughout the whole of October here on Maritime Radio, we will be airing a whole range of original programmes and content across our output, including Greenwich Breakfast and Greenwich Drive to celebrate our African-Caribbean communities, contribution to culture, ideas and the arts.

It’s a month of remembrance, honouring those who came before us and recognising those who are doing great things today.

One of the strands of content will be original poems that speak of the black experience today, and historically, produced some of the capital’s leading black poets. The lantern carrier, Jamel Hassen, Antiqu’e, Eljai  Morais and the young people from Poetic Unity, a non-profit organisation that serves to teach young people alternative ways of learning through poetry.

There are a number of events taking place across London to celebrate Black History Month and you can find out details online.
