A Stitch of Inspiration

A Stitch of Inspiration

On Saturday 5 August, Royal Museum’s Greenwich will join forces with the Blackheath Embroiders Guild to celebrate the National Celebration of Stitch.

Members of the Blackheath Embroiderers will take up residence in the Queen’s Presence Chamber of the Queen’s House from 10:30 am until 4:30 pm, meeting members of the public and encouraging them to try their hand at stitching.

The embroiderers will invite visitors to be inspired by the beautiful Tudor and Stuart portraits decorating the walls of the Queen’s House, whilst showcasing their work and letting people the chance to try stitching themselves.

Craft has never been more popular – from large scale events such as the Knitting and Stitch Show and Festival of Quilts, to ‘knit and natter’ and ‘stitch and bitch’ lunchtime clubs

This annual event encourages members of the public from all ages to try their hand at stitching. The Embroiders Guild has been actively raising the profile of embroidery and textile art for several years now.

Entry to the Queen’s House and the National Celebration of Stitch event is free of charge. No booking is required.
