We love local food at Maritime Radio, so the new monthly farmers’ market at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich is right up our street!
The farmers’ market in Woolwich, focuses on quality, artisan food produced in Greenwich, as Russ Handy found out for today’s Greenwich Drive.
Russ managed to grab a moment with Carmen and Adam from Season, who supply produce to many local businesses including the Plumstead Pantry, Graham the baker at the Honest Loaf bakery and Derek from Casa Grande, the only organic pasta producer in the UK, based in Woolwich. They are all regulars at the farmers’ market.
The market runs on the second Saturday of every month at Berkeley Homes’ Royal Arsenal Riverside development. It is made up of a variety of stalls, selling quality local produce, including:
- meat
- cheese
- fresh fruit and vegetables
- homemade bread
- homemade preserves.
All stalls have been handpicked by organisers James Yeomans and Emma Wheatley, owners of the independent Hop Stuff Brewery, one of the commercial tenants based at the riverside development.
If we’re making you feel hungry, you don’t have too long to wait, as the next market is on Saturday from 10am – 3pm.
