The A2 near Ebbsfleet is currently closed in both directions due to an eight vehicle crash involving two lorries which was reported to police at around 4.25pm.
8 miles of tailbacks have been reported by drivers caught up in the incident, who called the Maritime Radio Jam Line.
Officers from Kent Police are currently at the scene along with ambulance crews.
Congestion is reported back to the Danson Interchange with reported tailbacks for eight and a half miles.
Where possible drivers are advised to seek alternative routes.
Traffic in the area will also face further delays owing to an earlier lorry crash on the M25,which is causing more delays of more than an hour.
