In the week that London marked the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London, London Fire Brigades Borough Commander for Greenwich came to our studio to talk about his work.
Matt Herrington has been with London Fire Brigade for nearly 20 years and is now in charge of keeping our borough safe.
He gave a few prevention tips on air and also let us try on his helmet!
Matt told us the most important preventative measure we can take in the home, is to check our smoke detectors every week without fail. For more prevention advice, see the London Fire Brigade website, here.
Matt explained the more serious aspect to his role and how he is often on call to respond to major incidents.
